One of the goals of Oakland entertainer Jonah Melvon is to raise awareness of the images and the audio that’s presented to Urban audiences. He controls his destiny with his new album Rain Water Project. It is available for download on all major music platforms.

Jonah sets a dope tone with gems from this project like “Mom and Pops” and “What’s Good For You.”

Each cut features vocals by Adesha. Both releases dazzle the listener’s ears with clever lines and harmonious melodies.

Jonah Melvon got up with Grown Folks Jams recently. He sat down with us and shared some of his thoughts.

If anything, what would you change about the music industry today?

The images and the audio that are presented specifically to urban areas, continue to slow down our progression. I would def want to change the images and the audio, and I’m working to do my part now to raise that awareness.

What type of recording process do you use and who produced your recording?

Also In regards to my writing style, I have a ton of melodies and choruses sitting in my dropbox, waiting to meet the perfect home. Before I start the flow of recording, I’ll send this accapella either to a producer or musician, or both in the same, to see where we land. I also love swifting through production that I’ve been sent from all these dope producers I meet, to see if I can do the track justice.

Do you ever get the chance to perform live?

Performing live is my thing. I used to play like 3 to 4 nights a week for years. I slowed down to figure out my overall goals, and now I’m getting back into full performance mode, performing at least once a week.
